The Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort hosted the 2014 South Western Counties Golf Association South West Boys Championship on a fine, but windy, day.

The field of sixty competitors played thirty-six holes in testing conditions over a course of some 6,878 yards with some testing pin positions proving an excellent test of golf.

The morning round produced just one round under the course par of 72, a fine 71 by the eventual winner of the Individual Championship,

James Wiltshire representing Wiltshire.

  

His rounds of 71 + 74 for a total of 145 securing the narrowest of victories, just one shot, from runner up Harry Hall of Cornwall with rounds of 74 - 72 for a total of 146.

Other individual prize winners were: Kobe Adams (Somerset) for his morning round of 76 on count-back from Billy-Joe Bugden (Dorset).

The prize winners for the afternoon round were Jamie Li (Somerset) 73 and Haider Hussain (Gloucestershire) 74.

The Team Championship and Qualifying round for the English Boys County Final to be played at Sandiway Golf Club on 26th-28th August 2014 was won by Wiltshire represented by: Jamie Amor, Rhys Edwards, Tom Law, Dominic Patton, Corey Sheppard and James Wiltshire, their Team Manager was Paul Edwards.


A narrow margin of just three strokes from runners-up Dorset represented by: Tom Atkins, Jack Baker, Billy-Joe Bugden, Adam Harris, Sam Roles and James Singleton.
