Teignmouth Golf Club

Teignmouth Golf Club hosted the 2015 South Western Counties Golf Association South West Boys Championship on a rather wet and windy day. The rain did ease of later in the day, but the wind stayed with us throughout the day.

The field of fifty-three competitors played thirty-six holes in testing conditions over a course of some 6,082 yards with some testing pin positions proving an excellent test of golf.

The morning round produced just one round of 70, one over the course par of 69, this score was recorded by Jamie Andrew (Dorset) of Broadway Golf Club.

The overall winner was Taylor Stote (Somerset) of Burnham & Berrow Golf Club with two fine rounds of 73 + 71 to record a score of 144 and a two stroke victory over runner-up Tom Stagg (Wiltshire) Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club with rounds of 71 + 75 for a total of 146.

Other individual prize winners were: Jamie Andrew (Dorset) for his morning round of 70 from Thomas Plumb (Sherborne Golf Club) 72.

The prize winners for the afternoon round were James Thompson (Devon) 72 and Harrison Ottley-Woodd (Gloucestershire) 73.

The Team Championship and Qualifying round for the English Boys County Finals to be played at Kings Lynn Golf Club 25th to 27th August was won for the second year running by Wiltshire represented by: Jamie Amor, Jake Bolton, James Cooper, Charlie Dunn, Dominic Patton and Tom Stagg with a score of 752, their Team Manager was Ian Welding.

A considerable margin of twenty strokes from runners-up Dorset, again for the second year in succession, represented by: Tom Atkins, George Carroll, Bradley Cox, Adam Harris, David Lyon and Tom Plumb.
