The South Western Counties Golf Association Seniors Amateur Championships were held at Launceston Golf Club on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd July 2016.
The Club Captain (Mr Chris James) of Launceston Golf Club welcomed the South Western Counties to Launceston and the South West President, Mr Trevor Reynolds complimented the Club on the excellent condition of the course and thanked all the staff for looking after their visitors so very well.
The conditions were excellent throughout the two days, but, only one player equalled the CSS of 71 on day one and one player bettered the CSS of 73 by one shot on day two.
The South West Group Qualifying Competition for the England Golf Seniors County Finals to be played at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club on the 4th to 6th October 2016 were for the second year in succession Devon with a score of 755 captained by Jon Gynne and his team of Tim Aggett, Tony Allsopp, Philip Lyons, Graham Ruth, Paul Vicary and Richard Ward.
The runners-up were Cornwall with a score of 762 - Colin Ross, Andy Rowe, Andy Clotworthy, Simon Harper, David Kneebone and Michael Wigley.

Best Gross Score - Malcolm Edmunds (Cornwall) - 73 + 77 = 150 on countback from
Runner-Up - Barry Simpson (Somerset) - 72 + 78 = 150
Best Nett Score - Alexander Kidd (Somerset) - 69 + 71 = 140 Nett
The Winner of the Leonard Lake Trophy was Richard Pillow of Devon with scores of 71 + 75 = 146
Runner-Up was Tim Aggett (Devon) -75 + 73 = 148 on count-back from
3rd Tony Allsopp (Devon) - 74 + 74 = 148
4th Tony Coles (Dorset) - 74 + 76 = 150 on count-back from
5th Malcolm Edmunds (Cornwall) - 73 + 77 = 150 on count-back from
6th Barry Simpson (Somerset) - 72 + 78 = 150
