South Western Counties 2018 Boy's Championships

Perranporth Golf Club were this year's hosts for the South Western Counties Boy's Championship and following a very hot and dry spell of weather and a strong breeze on the day, the conditions proved to be a challenge for the field of forty-nine golfers.
The morning round produced some fine scoring, however with:-
Joe Reynard from Trevose Golf Club (Cornwall) leading the way with an excellent score of 72 a further shot back was George Leigh, also from Trevose Golf Club (Cornwall) with a 73.
A further shot back on 74 were Huxley Howell Saltford G C (Somerset), Jay Scott Tiverton Golf Club (Devon), and Thomas Kollberg of Broadstone Golf Club - (Dorset)
Although the strength of the wind increased during the afternoon round the scoring was slightly better with George Leigh returning a 72, as did Cameron Gurd, playing his home course.
Their were three players returning 74's in the afternoon:-
Craig Passmore- Torquay Golf Club (Devon), James Reed - Exeter Golf & Country Club (Devon) and Fred Bishop -Exeter Golf & Country Club (Devon).

The South West Counties Boys Amateur Championship
The winner was George Leigh of Trevose Golf Club (Cornwall) returning scores of 73 + 72 for a total of 145 and a four stroke victory over Runner-Up Craig Passmore of Torquay Golf Club (Devon) with a 75 + 74 Total 149 on count-back from Joe Reynard of Trevose Golf Club (Cornwall) 72 + 77 = 149.

England Golf Team Qualifier
The home county (Cornwall) recorded a 28 stroke victory over the runners-up Devon.
Cornwall Team
Cornwall, represented by Cameron Gurd, George Law, George Leigh, Joe Reynard, Thomas Stephens and Liam Wilson recorded a total of 756 and will represent the South West Region at the England Boys County Finals at Rockcliffe Hall Golf Club.
Runners-Up Devon represented by Lewis Beer, Harrison King, Matt Millar, Craig Passmore, James Reed and Jay Scott totalled 784.
